Vacations are only as good as the activities and experiences they offer — whether that’s soaking up the sunshine poolside, chasing thrills, enjoying crave-worthy cuisine or living it up after dark with fabulous music, dancing and entertainment. Cruises are unique in that they offer all of these things and more — especially when you choose to sail on a ship like Oasis of the Seas.
The record-breaking ship that launched Royal Caribbean’s legendary Oasis Class offers onboard attractions and experiences for every age and preference. It’s clear from the moment you step aboard that the folks who designed this engineering marvel poured their imaginations into every aspect of the ship — from its kid-friendly play spaces and glow-in-the-dark laser tag course to its Royal Escape Room℠, AquaTheater shows, adrenaline-amping slides and global food scene.
One of things I love most about Oasis of the Seas is that it allows guests to fill every single moment with unique things to do both indoors and outdoors, morning, noon and night. This is convenient on days that are especially warm (or chilly, depending on where your itinerary takes you). And if you’re more about chill vibes, the ship offers plenty of areas to kick back and relax — like the adults-only Solarium, the Library & Card Room and Vitality Spa℠. With so many cool things to see and do onboard, knowing where to start can seem a bit overwhelming. So I’ve outlined ten of my favorite things to do onboard to help get your vacation-planning mojo flowing.
For parents cruising with small children, one of the best things about Oasis of the Seas is that it offers so many activities for kids. Splashaway Bay is one of them. This fun-filled water park was designed with pint-sized cruisers in mind. It’s brimming with colorful waterslides, spontaneously spurting fountains, mini pools and whirlpools, and interactive water cannons just for tots and tweens. Parents can keep an eye on all the action while kids splash around and get soaked by the water park’s drench bucket.
The ship also offers Adventure Ocean, Royal Caribbean’s award-winning youth program. Totally free for cruise guests, it offers childcare services for guests aged 3-11. Kids are broken into groups based on their age, then treated to an entire day’s worth of supervised activities like arts and crafts, science experiments, theatrical plays and more.
When you’re craving a low-key evening, nothing beats a movie night — especially when you’re sailing on a ship like this. Oasis of the Seas hosts movie nights outside on its sprawling pool deck using a huge projector screen. You’ll want to make sure you pack a blanket so you can get cozy in a comfy chaise lounger while you enjoy the film, the cool sea breezes, and the twinkling stars above. You can check your Cruise Compass or the Cruise Planner app for a nightly lineup of films, which often range from old-school classics to modern hits.
If some of the onboard activities on this list piqued your interest, keep in mind that there’s plenty more to see and do onboard Oasis of the Seas. We didn’t even get into the cruise ship’s show-stopping entertainment, which encompasses impromptu parades, award-winning Broadway-style musicals, dazzling ice-skating shows and high-diving spectaculars at the AquaTheater.
The ship is also home to an incredible dining scene that spotlights flavors from Mexico to the Mediterranean and from Tuscany to Tokyo. And of course, there are plenty more family-friendly attractions waiting onboard, including a nine-hole mini golf course, a 40-foot rock-climbing wall, a classic arcade and a glow-in-the-dark laser tag course — just to name a handful.
