THE COOLEST NEW ROYAL CARIBBEAN
CRUISES IN 2020 AND 2021

Published on September 10, 2019

It’s never too early to begin daydreaming about where your travels will take you next. Wild and rugged forest trails, towering snowcapped mountains and glacier-dotted bays in Alaska? Storybook castles, Viking settlements and charming seaside port cities in the Baltics? Or warm Caribbean coasts with turquoise waters and colorful reefs to combat winter chill? Royal Caribbean offers so many new and exciting ways to explore in 2020-21— including first time visits to coastal towns, overnight stays in port and one-of-a-kind expeditions guaranteed to cross more firsts off your bucket list— all onboard the best ships in the world. Here are a few of our favorite highlights.

UNTAMED THRILLS IN ALASKA

Royal Caribbean has a bold answer to the call of the wild in summer 2020 with three cruise ships to choose from, including the biggest ship in Alaska— Ovation of the Seas. Onboard, enjoy Quantum Class feats, like simulated skydiving and 360-degree views from 300 feet up in the North Star observation capsule— the highest point for viewing the Alaska wilderness from the sea. And on this ship, even the interior staterooms have virtual balconies, so you won’t miss a minute of the panorama. Sailing round trip from Seattle, you’ll visit Juneau and Skagway and sail through the Endicott Arm fjord and Glacier Bay National Park on select sailings. If you want to do some glacier gazing, take it up a nautical notch with two Radiance Class favorites to choose from — both known for spectacular views from floor-to-ceiling windows and ocean-facing glass elevators. Radiance of the Seas sails one-way trips from Vancouver and Seward. Or hop on Serenade of the Seas and sail round trip from Van City. And you can even extend your vacation for an additional 5 to 7 nights with a land tour and trek through Alaska’s unspoiled tundra on a Royal Caribbean Cruisetour before or after your cruise.

CARIBBEAN ISLAND HOPPING

There’s never been a tropical takeover like the 2020 – 2021 cruise season. All four Oasis Class ships, the largest ships in the world, will sail from the New York area or Florida, so you can have your pick of Symphony of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas or the newly Amplified Oasis of the Seas. Innovation also sets sail beyond the east coast, with more Royal Amplified ships in San Juan, offering new ways to play year-round while heading for hot spots like Aruba, Bonaire and St. Maarten. Even the bayou gets a little bolder with year-round sailings from New Orleans for the first time ever on Majesty of the Seas. The journey is just as exciting as the destination when you can race down The Perfect Storm waterslides, test your skills on the FlowRider® surf simulator or battle it out in a game of intergalactic glow-in-the-dark laser tag right onboard— all between sun-soaked adventures in ports like Virgin Gorda, St. Kitts and Belize. Many Caribbean itineraries in 2020-21 include the most epic beach day ever at Perfect Day at CocoCay— where you can take a dip in the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, brave the tallest slide in North America, Daredevil’s Peak, unwind in a private cabana, relax with exclusive amenities at Coco Beach Club, and score a bird’s eye view of the island from a helium balloon that soars up to 450 feet above the island, all in the same day.

NORTHEAST, CANADA AND BERMUDA CRUISES

The northeast offers plenty of options for every season in 2020-21 onboard some of the best-loved Royal Caribbean ships. Beginning summer 2020, go from big city to even bigger adventure on one of four ships sailing from Cape Liberty, New Jersey— including the first Oasis Class ship in the northeast, the Amplified Oasis of the Seas. Or sail away on Adventure of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas and Empress of the Seas. You can discover record-breaking thrills at Perfect Day at CocoCay; explore Maine, Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy; take an extended journey to the Caribbean; spend a night in King’s Wharf, Bermuda; or sail to Southern Caribbean hot spots— all from the New York area. Fall in love with fall foliage and dramatically colorful coasts onboard Brilliance of the Seas sailing from Boston or Vision of the Seas departing from both Cape Liberty, New Jersey and Quebec City, Canada. Or for the first time ever, you can explore ports like St. George’s and Hamilton in Bermuda and Montreal, Corner Brook and the St. Pierre and Miquelon archipelago from Empress of the Seas. And all year long, Baltimore’s favorite resident, Grandeur of the Seas, heads for tropical shores, including Bermuda, Perfect Day at CocoCay, and more.

BEST SHORT CRUISES IN THE CARIBBEAN

Short on time? You’d be surprised how much vacation envy you can rack up on a 3, 4 or 5-night getaway with Royal Caribbean. Discover the best of the Western Caribbean in just a few days on Enchantment of the Seas from Galveston, Texas. Or really ramp up your adventure on one of three amped ships— Mariner of the Seas , Navigator of the Seas and Independence of the Seas — and head for Perfect Day at CocoCay. Make your way towards thrill and chill while launching into a virtual world on a bungee trampoline, charging along the longest waterslide at sea, The Blaster aqua coaster, or solving mind-bending puzzles in the Royal Escape Room. You can top it all off with hand-crafted cocktails at the new tiki-inspired sipping spot, The Bamboo Room, or dive into some friendly competition at Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade. Make the most of your out-of-office status during a quick Caribbean escape that feels anything but short.

NEW ADVENTURES IN EUROPE

New adventures reach the far corners of the Old World in 2020. Explore fairy-tale medieval towns one day and lively modern metropolises the next. Immerse yourself in ancient cultures and landscapes as diverse as the people who live there, from misty Scandinavian fjords to rugged Mediterranean coasts. Or take a spin from Southampton when Anthem of the Seas returns to Europe in summer 2020, visiting new coastal towns along the Mediterranean, in Northern Europe and the Canary Islands. And Allure of the Seas sails from Europe, departing from Barcelona to the Western Mediterranean. Explorer of the Seas also heads to the Western Mediterranean, offering an Aegean adventure in the Greek Isles, sailing from Rome. And that’s only the beginning— more favorites are returning to roam some of the world’s most historic shores with epic journeys throughout the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, British Isles and beyond.

ONE OF A KIND ITINERARIES

Beginning spring 2020, venture far beyond places you’ve imagined. Unique Royal Caribbean itineraries take you off the grid and to almost anyplace on your bucket list. You can say Aloha to the islands of Hawaii, discover Down Under wonders in Australia or embark on an Arabian adventure from Dubai. Start your journey on one side of the world and end it in another on an extraordinary sailing through the Panama Canal or set out on the Far East expedition of a lifetime from Singapore. And for the ultimate immersive vacation experience, you can sail Asia onboard Spectrum of the Seas®, the very first Quantum Ultra Class ship.

You can spend summer 2020 like a seabound snowbird onboard Vision of the Seas traveling from Quebec City all the way to sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida, stopping by quaint seaside towns in Nova Scotia, Maine and Massachusetts. Or spend 12 nights reveling in the ancient mysteries and exotic beauty of Israel’s Holy Land, Cyprus, Greece and Turkey while sailing onboard Jewel of the Seas. September 2020 can take you from Iceland overnights to epic Greenland sights on a one-of-a-kind Arctic Crossing expedition onboard Brilliance of the Seas calling from Amsterdam. Or say Aloha to new Hawaiian cruises in 2020 during springtime or fall onboard Radiance of the Seas, Serenade of the Seas or Hawaii’s biggest adventure yet, Ovation of the Seas— all offering overnight or extended stays.

With so many new destinations and amped up ships to see them on, you’re in store for a vacation you’ll boast about for years to come. And these are just some highlights of the new 2020-2021 cruises. Explore all the upcoming itineraries on our 2020-2021 cruise page.
