Before 2011, members earned 1 Cruise Credit for each sailing, regardless of the cruise length. Starting in 2003, if you took a cruise that lasted 12 nights or more, you received an extra Cruise Credit. In 2004, booking a Suite also earned you an additional Cruise Credit. However, single occupancy guests did not earn additional credits until October 3, 2013.
In 2011, we transitioned to the current Cruise Points system, where you earn points for each night you sail. Each Cruise Credit earned before 2011 is equivalent to 7 Cruise Points, and you can also earn additional points based on your past sailings.
For example, if you completed a 7-night cruise in a balcony stateroom on Vision of the Seas in 2008, you would earn 1 Cruise Credit, which equals 7 points. If you then sail for 7 nights in a balcony stateroom on Icon of the Seas in 2024, you would earn another 7 Cruise Points.
At first, it may seem like you have only 8 points (7 from the Icon of the Seas plus 1 from the Cruise Credit). However, your total will actually be 15 points. This is because each Cruise Credit is worth 7 points, and you also receive an extra bonus point for sailing with Royal Caribbean before 2011.
So, with the 7 points from Icon of the Seas and the 1 point from the Cruise Credit, your total adds up to 15 points.
